The chiseled bodies, the future pro’s, the current gods of the sport; the many vendors, the incredible athletic abilities and the list goes on and on. This was the sight from June 5th -7th all over downtown Toronto, as the Toronto Pro SuperShow took place in its largest event yet. In its 5th year straight, this amazing weekend was a great success thanks to all the amazing athletes and spectators that took part. As people from all over the world came to experience this event, downtown Toronto was filled with fitness enthusiasts ready to partake in the action.
A big part of this weekend was the physique shows. The Professionals took the stage on Saturday night to display some of the best bodies in the world at the IFBB Toronto Pro Show. We had many great Canadians competing at the professional level including Ian Valliere, Leah Johnson, Eren Legend and many more. The entire athlete lineup brought to the stage amazing physiques and truly displayed the extremes of what the human anatomy can be taken to. This very same night, Kai Greene guest posed and had a fantastic pose down with the dance group 3rd motion as they flowed through the stage as if possessed by the music. Kai really proves that even if you are over 260 lbs., you can still move like a gazelle.
This very same weekend, the Ontario Provincial Championships hosted by the OPA took place. This was the largest event ever hosted by the OPA. Over 600 competitors took the stage between Friday night and Saturday morning to display what talent and hard work Ontario can bring to this beautiful sport. The top 5 winners in each class qualified for the Canadian National Championships; where many of them will go on to represent the OPA in the eyes of all Canadians. The competition was very steep and a judge even mentioned: “these classes were the most competitive I have ever seen.”
Apart from the bodybuilding competitions, there were many other amazing events occurring at the expo, which housed an unbelievable amount of booths showing the latest trends, supplements and equipment available to further advance our physiques. Many sports partook in the expo like the strongman events, wrestling, crossfit, and the Ontario Powerlifting invitational event. Here many companies had their sponsored athletes available for meet and greets with guys like Ronnie Coleman and Ben Pakulski. There was even a cage by Muscle Insider where incredible feats of strength took part like bench pressing your bodyweight for as many reps as possible and Inside Fitness had a model search where the victors won the chance to be displayed on the cover of their Magazine.
But this weekend was not just filled with bodybuilding shows and expo booths. There were 3 notable seminars that occurred, in which an amazing amount of knowledge and motivational stories were shared which left listeners awestruck. Kai Greene, Ronnie Coleman and Nicole Wilkins provided these seminars in private rooms to a limited audience with sold out crowds. They mentioned their background and their stories on how they got to become legends in their sport, and how they all had a dream, and let nothing get in their way.
The Toronto Pro Supershow 2015 was an amazing event, it really displayed how fast our sport of bodybuilding and fitness is growing and how many incredible athlete’s Ontario has. Many of us left this weekend motivated to further improve in every aspect of our lives. Thanks to all the sponsors and our OPA promoters including Ron Hache, the president of the Ontario Physique Association, for making this such a fantastic experience. There is no doubt that this event will continue expanding and that 2016 will hold another amazing experience for all of us.
